Brackets

In my Yahoo! pool with Geoff, Cristina, Kyle, and Susannah, I have 59 points and potential total of 115. I decided to see what you'd have if you picked no upsets at all. After the Sweet Sixteen you'd have 63 points with the potential for 103 if the remaining teams played according to rank. If UConn wins I will beat the average.

Emotions

Every once in a while I get one of those feelings that I'm doing or experiencing something that an earlier version of myself would not be able to believe. There are, perhaps, larger points to be made about this phenomenon, but what really hit me this week is that my favorite song of 2006, up to this point, is Mariah Carey's "Emotions." Granted, it originally came out nearly a decade and a half ago, but DJ Copy just produced a new backing track for a mix album called Divas and it's stunning.

Given the direction of music criticism over the past few years and my relationship to music via those critics and outlets, this development shouldn't be a great surprise, but I'm pretty sure this concept would have blown my rock-centric teenage mind.
